The EPA's term for the red areas on its radon map, where more than 10% of homes are predicted to have radon above the national reference level of 200 Bq/m³. On the current map red reads 'about 1 in 5 homes'. Orange ('about 1 in 10') and yellow ('about 1 in 20') are not classed as High Radon Areas, though orange sits right at the EPA threshold and a test is still worth doing. The map says nothing about one house: only a three-month test does.
